About Our Lesson Program

Riding is a truly unique sport—one where progress depends not only on learning technique, but also on building very specific muscles, balance, and coordination that can only be developed while in the saddle. No matter how active a rider may be in other sports, true improvement in riding comes from consistent time spent with horses.

Ideally, students would ride multiple times a week—just like they might attend soccer practice, cheerleading, or music lessons several days each week. With that kind of dedication, progress happens much faster. However, we understand that riding can be a significant financial commitment, and for many recreational riders, weekly lessons are the most realistic option. Because of this, we strongly encourage riders to attend all scheduled lessons to maintain progress and build upon their skills week after week.

To support and motivate our students, we’ve created a clear, goal-oriented curriculum with seven progressive levels, each represented by a colored ribbon. We’ve taken inspiration from horse show ribbons, working our way backwards through the color order:

Purple (Little Buckeroos, ages 3–7), Green, Pink, White, Yellow, Red, and Blue.

All new beginner riders (ages 7 and up) start at the Green Level and receive an information packet outlining the skills they’ll need to master. Each level includes both mounted (riding) and unmounted (horsemanship) skills to ensure a well-rounded education. When students feel confident in their knowledge and abilities, they may test for their ribbon during a private lesson or on a designated testing day.

Our leveled program gives both students and parents a clear understanding of what’s expected at each stage, helping track progress in a structured, rewarding way. While we follow this general structure, we welcome and encourage students of all ages to share their individual horsemanship goals—and we’ll be right there to help you achieve them!

General pricing

Introductory Lesson- $90

Our introductory lesson is a one-on-one, hour-long session with an instructor, designed to give new riders a safe and welcoming first experience. This lesson is required for all new students, but it’s also a great option for anyone interested in riding who may not be ready to commit to a weekly lesson schedule. We’re happy to schedule you as availability allows.

Private Lessons – $300/month (4 rides)

Private lessons are 30-minute ride sessions with one rider and one instructor, offering focused, individualized instruction. Riders are highly encouraged to arrive 10–15 minutes before their scheduled ride time to learn valuable unmounted horsemanship skills such as grooming, tacking, and general horse care. After riding, students are required to stay and care for their horse, helping build responsibility and deeper connection with their equine partner.

Semi-Private Lessons – $240/month (4 rides)

Semi-private lessons include two riders per instructor and offer a great mix of personal attention and shared learning. Each lesson includes 30 minutes of ride time. Just like private lessons, riders are encouraged to arrive 10–15 minutes early and are required to stay after their ride time to practice unmounted skills and care for their horse.

"Little Buckeroo" Lessons (Ages 3–6) – $200/month (4 rides)

Perfect for our youngest horse lovers, these 15-minute, one-on-one sessions gently introduce kids ages 3–6 to horses in a safe, fun environment. Little Buckeroos are encouraged to arrive 5–10 minutes early to participate in age-appropriate unmounted activities like brushing their pony and learning basic horse care.

Haul-In Lessons – $80 per lesson

For riders bringing their own horses, we offer one-hour haul-in lessons. These sessions provide the same level of instruction and support while allowing riders to work with their own equine partners.

IEA Team Riders

Special rates are available for our IEA team riders. Please contact us directly for more information.

📍 All students are encouraged to take part in unmounted horsemanship before and after their rides as part of their education and connection with horses.

Lessons are offered Monday-Thursday. Please list your availability on those days to see how we can best accommodate your schedule.

If you or your child has ridden in the past please describe what you/they are currently doing. If you/they have never ridden before you can indicate "none".
